The Beta Males

TODAY IN LONDON rock gods Liam Gallagher and  The Charlatans, super-duper sketch quintet The Beta Males, Indian playwright Abhishek Majumdar and TV comedians Dara Ó Briain and Lee Mack feature in the following TW-recommended events…

COMEDY: The Beta Males In… Superopolis, Pleasance Theatre, 18-23 Oct (pictured)
Alpha comic boys The Beta Males’ “smart, brilliant and self aware” (or so we said in Edinburgh) ‘Superopolis’ finds them suiting up and and whizzing off on an incisive tour of the ‘whys, what ifs and ironies’ of the superhero world. Details and tickets here.

COMEDY: Roar With Laughter feat Dara Ó Briain/Lee Mack/Tim Vine/Men In Coats, Hammersmith Apollo, 18 Oct
London Zoo locks in a menagerie of big comedy cats, not least Ireland’s own Dara Ó Briain, fast-talking ‘Not Going Out’ stars Lee Mack and Tim Vine, and Michael Dow’s noiseless anorak act ‘Men In Coats’ for this wild one-off safari. Details and tickets here.

MUSIC: The Charlatans & Friends – A Night For Jon Brookes, Royal Albert Hall, 18 Oct
The Charlatans, Liam Gallagher, The Chemical Brothers and members of The Vaccines and New Order are all playing live at this vigil dedicated to late Charlatans drummer Jon Brookes, who sadly died earlier this year, aged 44, of complications relating to a brain tumour. All takings from the show will go to The Brain Tumour Charity. Details and tickets here.

THEATRE: The Djinns Of Eidgah, Royal Court Theatre, 18 Oct – 8 Nov
Devised by Delhi-born playwright Abhishek Majumdar as part of a Royal Court-backed collaboration with twelve Indian writers in all, ‘The Djinns Of Eidgah’ interweaves real testimonies with Islamic fiction, painting a radical portrait of a once-beautiful, now ravaged landscape. Details and tickets here.
