Friday 22 November 2013 in London
By TW Editorial | Published on Saturday 16 November 2013
TODAY IN LONDON ‘Les Miserables’ filmstar Fra Fee, physical theatre firms CMP and Troop, and the incomparable Iggy Pop all feature in the following TW-recommended events…
FESTIVAL: Iggyfest – Blah Blah Blah, ICA, 22-23 Nov (pictured)
Punk-rock’s most lustful life-insurance-pusher is honoured with a mix of live music and DJs, a screening of ‘Kiss My Blood’ (ie the film depicting his 1991 set at the Paris Olympia), lectures and even a free Iggy-oke sesh. Details and tickets here.
THEATRE: Candide, Menier Chocolate Factory, 22 Nov – 22 Feb 2014
The Menier’s Christmas special this year is Bernstein and Wheeler’s musical spin on Voltaire’s classic satire of 1759. It stars ‘Les Miserables’ player Fra Fee in the title role, that of a man on a poignant voyage of discovery (who likes to sing and dance on the way). Details and tickets here.
THEATRE: Macbeth, The Courtyard, 22-23 Nov
Since people never seem to tire of the old Scottish Play, there’s definitely room in the ‘Macbeth’ pool for an “electrifying”, edge-of-seat version (with real fighting!) c/o physical theatre cos CMP and Troop. Details and tickets here.
