By TW Editorial | Published on Monday 4 May 2015
And today’s ThisWeek-tipped, LDN-based events are…
CABARET: Christeene | The Laundry | 10 May (pictured)
Promising a “gender-bending booty-pounding perversion of punk, foul hilarity and raw unabashed sexuality”, Christeene hits East London venue The Laundry for one night only. See if you can decipher this ThreeWeeks interview with Christeene from the 2014 Edinburgh Fringe. Details and tickets here.
EVENT: Covent Garden May Fayre And Puppet Festival | St Paul’s Church Garden | 10 May
This year marks the 40th anniversary of this annual event, which celebrates the first performance of Punch & Judy in Covent Garden in 1662 (witnessed by Samuel Pepys and recorded in his diary, handily). Various activities and events will take place throughout the day, including of course performances of the show itself. Details here.
VISUAL ART: Idris Khan – Conflicting Lines | Victoria Miro | 1 May – 6 Jun
A new exhibition of large-scale works from Idris Khan. The composite photographs are created from a series of oil stick paintings and a process of overlaying lines of writing repeatedly painted onto a minimal ground, until the language becomes obscured. Details here.
