And today’s ThisWeek-tipped, LDN-based events are…
FESTIVALS: St Patrick’s Day Parade and Festival 2015 | Trafalgar Square | 15 Mar
It isn’t actually St Patrick’s Day until Tuesday, but I think we can overlook that when there’s celebrating to be done. Pitched up in Trafalgar Square, you’ll be able to immerse yourself in Irish music, dance, art, food and more. Maybe a pint of Guinness too. Details and tickets here.
FILM: Nomad Cinema – Moulin Rouge | Hippodrome Casino | 15 Mar (pictured)
Nomad Cinema rests in the fancy pants surroundings of the Hippodrome Casino for a screening of Baz Luhrmann’s ‘Moulin Rouge’. As well as the film, you’ll get a cocktail, burlesque performance and a betting chip to match the ticket price. I like those odds. Details and tickets here.
THEATRE: The Royale | Bush Theatre | 13 Mar – 14 Apr
Based on the real life story of Jack Johnson, ‘The Royale’ follows Jay ‘The Sport’ Jackson, who dreams of being the undisputed heavyweight champion of the world. However, it’s 1905, boxing is a racially segregated sport, and he is black. A boxing promoter hatches a plan to get him in the ring with the reigning – white – heavyweight champion, but what will be the cost if he wins? Details and tickets here.
