Wallace And Gromit

TODAY IN LONDON man-and-dog duo Wallace And Gromit, the first ladies of cabaret Fascinating Aida, children’s theatre types Catherine Wheels and comical Christmas angels Barry Ferns and Glenn Moore feature in the following TW-recommended events…

COMEDY: Angel Comedy feat Barry Ferns/Glenn Moore, Camden Head, 22 Dec
Radio 4’s Glenn Moore – also of TW podcast infamy – and this year’s Malcolm Hardee Award-winner Barry Ferns (a prize won for ripping off our Edinburgh daily sheet, but we’ve forgiven him), are the fairies atop Angel’s evergreen comedic tree tonight, adorning a line-up also featuring all the usual suspects, and Adam Greene, Sonia Aste, Fabian Wood, Thea Downie, Daniel Jacob, Sam Carrington, Dean Hughes and El Musselwhite. Details and tickets here.

FILM: Wallace And Gromit’s Musical Marvels, Barbican, 22-23 Dec (pictured)
Young and old’uns will love this orchestra-scored mini-musical, which features an Aardman-animated film in which Wallace and his pal Gromit compose a masterpiece called ‘My Concerto in Ee, Lad’. For the show’s second half, the Aurora Orchestra will soundtrack a round of the crackers duo’s multi award-winning short ‘A Matter Of Loaf And Death’. Details and tickets here.

THEATRE: Fascinating Aida – Charm Offensive, Southbank Centre, 22 Dec – 10 Jan 2014
Gauche funny girls Fascinating Aida go on an audacious charm onslaught, singing songs old and not so old as part of the Southbank Centre’s Winter Festival, and their thirtieth anniversary celebrations. Details and tickets here.

THEATRE: White, Royal Festival Hall, 22 Dec – 2 Jan 2014
A total white-out (in terms of ticket sales) when it first fell to earth in 2011, children’s theatre specialists Catherine Wheels use music, stories and surprises to introduce and explore the wonderful, colourful world of White. Details and tickets here.
