Illuminations London

TODAY IN LONDON sketch loons Lebensmüde, ‘illuminating’ Arab Strap man Aiden Moffat, and Richard Sandling’s Poppy Appeal posse (Phill Jupitus, Richard Herring, Pappy’s et al) all feature in the following TW-recommended events…

COMEDY: Lebensmüde And Friends! feat Max & Ivan/Phil Wang/Birthday Girls, The Last Refuge, 3 Nov
The line-up at this evening’s edition of sketch troupe Lebensmüde’s Peckham circle of friends includes Edinburgh Comedy Award-recognised BFFS Max & Ivan, Phil Wang and Birthday Girls. Even better, the entry fee is however much you see fit to give, and no one can say fairer (or friendlier) than that. Details here.

COMEDY: Richard Sandling’s Awesome Poppy Appeal Show, Bloomsbury Theatre, 3 Nov
Cinephile Richard Sandling MCs an afternoon benefit giving props (and proceeds) to this year’s Poppy Appeal. The charity matinee will feature stand up, sketches, characters, cabaret, music, poetry “and more” from the likes of Phill Jupitus, Richard Herring, Pappy’s, Lili La Scala, Bec Hill and Brian Gittins. Details and tickets here.

MUSIC: Illuminations, various locations, 3-10 Nov (pictured)
Placing high in LDN’s distinguished festival ranks, it’s the vari-sited Illumiations, which isn’t technically a festival, but rather – says its promoter Rockfeedback – a “week-long series of specially curated music and arts events”. So there. Arab Strap’s Aidan Moffat, dutch psych wunderkind Jacco Gardner, rock goofball Dent May and Majikal Clouds light up tonight’s show, whilst latter dates will centre on the Owiny Sigoma Band, cerebral dreamers MONEY, and Field Music, who’ll perform their score to the film ‘Drifters’. Details and tickets here.
