“Becca leaves the office at 8.56am. Uniform is waiting. They speed across the city, blues and twos blaring, on the trail of a missing woman. This is like a police drama! Except Becca is a social worker, and they never put social workers in police dramas.” The excellent Lost Watch present this play about contemporary social care, the difficulties that face social workers, and the unfolding crisis of the system. Utility | Orange Tree Theatre | 1 Jun-7 Jul
“Amber is juggling two nearly full-time jobs and three kids. Her on-again, off-again husband Chris is eternally optimistic and charming as hell, but rarely employed. The house is falling apart and Amber has an eight-year old’s birthday party to plan. As Amber struggles to keep things from boiling over, she is forced to confront reality – she is a stranger to the person she once was and the person she thought she might be.” Hmm, some of that sounds quite familiar. This is the European premiere of this play by emerging US writer Emily Schwend. All the details are here.
