And today’s ThisWeek-tipped, LDN-based events are…

MUSIC: Despacio | Roundhouse | 10-12 Sep
This is James Murphy’s vinyl-only DJ franchise Despacio, a collaboration with Soulwax brothers David and Stephen Dewaele and DFA tech John Klett, and involves a speaker rig big enough to fulfill all your clubby music needs. Here’s Murphy’s own description for you: “It’s a simple, floor-standing series of giant stacks, comfortably doing full, smooth sound. It’s pretty wide-open, pretty raw. The stacks will be arranged in a circle that people can wander in and out of, literally immersing themselves in sound”. See this page for info and tickets.

THEATRE: Hangmen | Royal Court Theatre | 10 Sep-10 Oct (pictured)
Esteemed playwright and screenwriter Martin McDonagh is back with a new play, his first in ten years. It’s about the second-best hangman in England, set on the day in 1965 when hanging was abolished in the UK, and features a starry cast including the likes of Ralph Ineson, Sally Rogers, David Morrissey and Reece Shearsmith. More info and tickets from the venue website here.

MUSIC: Jurassic 5 | The Forum | 10 Sep
They disbanded in 2007, they reunited in 2013, and over the last year they’ve been performing highly acclaimed shows all over the globe. If alt hip hop is your thing, then this is probably not one to miss. Chali 2na, Akil, Zaakir, Mark 7even, DJ Nu-Mark and Cut Chemist head to the forum this week, following the re-release earlier this year of their full length debut ‘Quality Control’. Info and tickets from this page here.
