And today’s ThisWeek-tipped, LDN-based events are…

Hackney One Carnival | Hackney Town Hall + environs | 13 Sep
Bright, fun, and free. What’s not to like? Haste ye to the borough of Hackney to witness a diverse array of entertainment; live music, DJs, children’s area and of course, the carnival procession itself, which will see 750 performers taking to the streets, bringing with them the traditional carnival arts of  Africa, Bolivia, Brazil, Caribbean, Ireland and the UK. And if you live along the route of the parade, you can decorate your property and potentially win a prize…! I wish I lived along the route of the parade. Hmmph. See this page here for more details.

Maria Camahort Quintet – Iberian Colours | King’s Place | 13 Sep (pictured)
This is the second event that I have plucked from the programme of the King’s Place Festival (yes, you know, the one that’s at King’s Place) and with good reason: I am a sucker for Spanish rhythms. This concert offers performances of the work of tradionally-influenced Spanish composers, promising a “journey through the relationship between Spanish Classical repertoire and influences from Iberia’s traditional music”. Sounds fab. See more info and arrange tickets here.

NewsRevue | Canal Cafe Theatre | 13 Sep and ongoing
If you haven’t yet managed to catch an edition of NewsRevue, then shame on you, frankly, they’ve been around long enough. You can see the “world’s longest running live comedy show” at Canal Cafe Theatre every Thursday through to Saturday, so this show isn’t just for today, it’s for soon, and the rest of your life. Once you have been once, you will want to go again and again, so it’s a good thing the news keeps giving ’em food for new material. More info and tickets from this location here.
