And today’s ThisWeek-tipped, LDN-based events are…

Maggie And Pierre | Finborough Theatre | various dates
This revival of Linda Griffiths and Paul Thompson’s 1980 play is its European premiere. Regarded as something of a Canadian modern classic, it’s a one-woman play told from the viewpoint of Margaret Trudeau, one-time wife of former Canadian president Pierre Trudeau, and mother of current president Justin Trudeau. Kelly Burke performs in the show, which tells the tale of a passionate but ultimately doomed marriage, and examines the pressure of power and fame on people and relationships. See this page here for info and to book.

Fancy Chance – Flights Of Fancy | Soho Theatre | 21-22 Jun (pictured)
The award winning Fancy Chance – Alternative Miss World 2009 and London’s Top Tranny 2010 – brings her debut solo show to Soho Theatre and promises “a globe-trotting, time-travelling mini-spectacle” peppered with “turbulent polemics” as well as moments of poignancy. Expect comedy, song and film from this cabaret favourite. Head right this way.

Ross & Rachel | Battersea Arts Centre | 21-25 Jun
This play got lots and lots of highly complimentary reviews when it was on at the Edinburgh Fringe last summer, but I didn’t get to see it. If you’re in the same situation, then here’s your chance. As the title suggests, the piece takes as its jumping off point the most hyped relationship depicted by ludicrously popular US sitcom ‘Friends’, taking a look at what might have happened next, and questioning the narrative of “happy ever after”. No prior knowledge of the TV show required, however. See the venue website here for more info and to book.
