Three To See on 29 Jun: Tenants, Ugly Lovely, Norris & Parker – See You At The Gallows

And today’s ThisWeek-tipped, LDN-based events are…
Tenants | Rosemary Branch Theatre | 29 Jun-1 Jul
This sounds interesting, and tackles an issue which should probably be hotter than it is – the UK housing crisis, and the negative impact of an era of shared ownership and buy-to-let. It’s an interactive devised piece, commissioned by New Theatre Royal and the University Of Portsmouth, which sees tenants fighting it out with landladies in a crazy turf war. For more info on the show, and to book tickets, head to this page here.
Ugly Lovely | Old Red Lion | 28 Jun-16 July
Actress and writer Ffion Jones’ debut play is set in the “pretty shitty city” of Swansea, and claims to be grimy, funny, dark and bittersweet. It sounds like it’s something of a coming of age drama depicting the rude awakening of a young woman who is trying to work out what she wants from life. A rather good up and coming theatre company are behind it, and I think it looks great, so have a look at the venue website here for more info and to book your tickets.
Norris & Parker – See You At The Gallows | Museum Of Comedy | 29-30 Jun (pictured)
Not sure if this is an official Edinburgh preview, but Norris & Parker are definitely taking this show up to the Festival later this summer. To be honest, the blurb made me feel a bit scared, but I have heard many, many good things about this comic pairing – expect “ a sordid soiree full of wild, dark and ridiculous sketches, characters and songs”. All the details are right about here.
