Cut | The Vaults | 5-31 Jul
Set to be staged in the atmospheric Vaults, this one woman thriller, written by Duncan Graham and performed by Hannah Norris, has already proven itself with a successful run up in Edinburgh and by winning the Best Theatre award at last year’s Adelaide Festival. “A Lynchian dream that transports an audience deep into the heart of 21st century fears: the psychological equivalent of extreme turbulence”, runs the blurb. Eek, sounds like a scary ride, doesn’t it? If you’re made of strong stuff, head this way to book your tickets.

Yes, we are all about the short titles today, my friends. And quality theatrical offerings, which is what this is. Up-and-coming playwright Phoebe Eclair Powell, resident writer at the Soho Theatre, demonstrates her considerable talents with this modern take on ‘Medea’ that sees a young and impulsive single mother faced with impossible choices, and shines a light on the very contemporary problem of how such young people face enormous difficulty and prejudice. The Invisible Condition | The Space | 5-9 Jul
This work in progress tackles an important topic, the problem we have with undiagnosed and untreated mental illness: over a quarter of the population experience it during their lives, yet two thirds of sufferers never get proper treatment. The show is a verbatim piece, created using interviews with patients, medical professionals and activists, in which respondents reveal the way in which the system is failing us. More info here.
