Three To See on 6 Aug: Cotton, Dear Home Office – Still Pending, Opera Mouse

And today’s ThisWeek-tipped, LDN-based events are…

Cotton | Hen & Chickens | 6-8 Aug
Today’s choice from the Camden Fringe is this, a new play with a very contemporary theme: “When their team disbands after a devastating loss, three professional gamers are thrown back into a life that never made sense to them. They’ve got to make it in the real world – but how much of a ‘real world’ is there left for them?” See the venue website here for info.

Dear Home Office – Still Pending | The Bunker Theatre | 6-7 Aug
At last year’s Edinburgh Festival we saw ‘Dear Home Office’, in which eight unaccompanied minors, all in the process of applying asylum in the UK, told the story of Tariq, an amalgam of their collective experiences. This is Phosphorus Theatre’s follow up, this time featuring a larger cast, and new stories of slightly older young men. For details see this page here.

Opera Mouse | Arcola Theatre | 6 Aug (pictured)
Someone else we first discovered via the Fringe is Melanie Gall, who does lovely operatic things for children, and has performed this show in venues all around the world. ‘Opera Mouse’, which is on as part of Arcola’s Grimeborne season, is a fabulous introduction for kids to the world of opera, and I expect most adults will enjoy it too.
