Greek | Arcola Theatre | 8-18 Aug
Back to the brilliant Grimeborn Festival now, for a real treat for all you fans of Ancient Greek Mythery. For this is a thirtieth anniversary staging of the “riotous, contemporary retelling of the Oedipus myth”, based on the verse play by Steven Berkoff, which first won acclaim back in 1998. If you’re older than me you may even remember The Sunday Times calling it “riveting total theatre… a resounding, unanimous triumph”. See this page here for details.

Tomorrow In The Battle | Drayton Arms Theatre | 7-25 Aug
“Simon, a heart surgeon, takes increasing risks with his health, marriage and career as he pursues a desperate relationship. Meanwhile his wife Anna, a scientist at the Ministry of Defence, contrives a deception of her own in the renewal of the country’s nuclear arsenal.” Kieron Barry’s acclaimed play (which I think first reared its not-ugly head in 2012) gets a UK premiere, see this page here for all the info.

The Naked Dietician – Enough | Hen & Chickens | 8 Aug (pictured)
The excellent Lucy Aphramor presents this piece of solo theatre focusing on a life of white, thin privilege for a traumatised body. “Can the liberation of one award-winning self-harming poet-dietitian be connected to all liberation? Disrupting the neoliberal delusion by being body, Mad, queer and age-positive in this sexy, feminist, lyrically explosive performance.” Part of the ongoing and wonderful Camden Fringe, see the festival website here for more.
