COMEDY: The New Wave 2013 – London Residency, The Invisible Dot, 13 Mar
Selected by the tastemakers at Invisible Dot HQ to crest this year’s New Wave, tonight’s pool features comic optimist Mae Martin, elastic character man Mat Ewins, Natasia Demetriou and Phoebe Walsh of sketch nerds Oyster Eyes, 5/5-rated eccentric Sam Fletcher and the Edinburgh Fringe’s reigning best newb John Kearns. FILM: A Nos Amours – Chantal Akerman’s ‘Dis-moi’, ICA, 13 Mar (pictured)
A Nos Amours, a film club for true connoisseurs, continues its look back at the works of Belgian cineaste Chantal Akerman with 1980’s moving and at times funny ‘Dis-moi’. Partly in the frame throughout, Akerman – whose mother outlived the holocaust – talks to a group of women who also survived the Shoah. Details and tickets here.
THEATRE: Other Desert Cities, Old Vic, 13 Mar – 24 May
Jon Robin Baitz’s Tony Awards-nominated play, a biting portrayal of a high-powered political family in the States, moves from Broadway to London for the first time. With ‘Noises Off’ director Lindsay Posner in charge, this production stars Sinéad Cusack and Peter Egan as a reputable Republican couple with a lot to lose, who must deal with their daughter’s threat to write a candid book about her personal life.
