TW’s tipped events TODAY IN LONDON feature a myriad LGBT films, high-security comic duo Den & Ray, and a wise owl story…
COMEDY: Den & Ray present… Got It Covered Comedy, The Lion, 20 Mar
Bro-sis duo James and Becky Bone, in character as cockney bouncers and Hoxton Radio co-hosts Den and Ray Jenkins, hustle in guest punters Dane Baptiste, Sarah Callaghan and top dog Tony Law. Details and tickets here.
FILM: BFI Flare – London LGBT Film Festival, various locations, 20-30 Mar (pictured)
Back with a fiery new title and, as ever, an excellent array of LGBT films, this year’s Flare Festival celebrates its first night by screening of Hong Khaou’s Ben Whishaw-starring ‘Lilting’ (pictured), with the following ten days featuring movies like ‘The Last Match’, a Cuban tale of sexual awakening, poignant doc ‘Valentine Road’, director Nejc Gazvoda’s playful night-time intermission ‘Dual’, and a lengthy itinerary of industry events. Details and tickets here.
THEATRE: Puffball, Battersea Arts Centre, 20-22 Mar
It might sound cutesy, but ‘Puffball’, in which a woman finds and takes care of an injured owl, is something much more profound than just a funny puff-piece. In fact, it’s Caroline Williams’ real-life story, a show about fear, hope and human frailty. Details and tickets here.
