TODAY IN LONDON, TW’s tipped events feature drama marvel Adrian Lester, shady showbiz agent Kristian D Kirkland, and alt-rock outlaws Deer Tick…
COMEDY: Kristian Aid – A Comedy Fundraiser, The Lion, 23 Jan
No don’t worry, this isn’t a holy charity drive, but rather a spoof bid to raise loot by ‘agent’ Kristian D Kirkland, who ‘misplaced’ his clients’ cash whilst on a trip to Vegas, and needs to earn it back. Entry to see the evening’s entertainment – which features Weirdos savant Adam Larter, Ali Brice, Jayne Edwards, Darren Maskell, Sean Morley, Leanne McKie, Rio Bauer and Ian Hall – is free, so really this isn’t all as bad taste as it seems. Details here.
MUSIC: Deer Tick, The Garage, 23 Jan (pictured)
Bowling in all the way from Providence, songs in tow, alt-rock cowboys Deer Tick jam live to the sounds of their 2013 LP ‘Negativity’. Details and tickets here.
THEATRE: Red Velvet, Tricycle Theatre, 23 Jan – 15 Mar
Reliably excellent thesp Adrian Lester reprises his revolutionary role as Ira Aldridge, a young black actor from the 19th century, in this multi-award-winning production from Tricycle AD Indhu Rubasingham and the Evening Standard and Critics’ Circle’s ‘Most Promising Playwright’ of 2012 Lolita Chakrabarti. Details and tickets here.
