Love Building

TODAY IN LONDON the requires-no-intro Adam Buxton, noir-pop stargazers Crystal Stilts, and a tonne of Romanian film feature in the following TW-recommended events…

COMEDY: BUG 40, BFI Southbank, 28 Nov
Adam Buxton digs deep into the internet’s weird and interesting music video bin (there is such a thing, of course), presenting his finest finds, ‘You’ve Been Framed’-style, in tonight’s edition of his long-running show BUG. Details and tickets here.

FILM: Romanian Film Festival, various locations, 28 Nov – 2 Dec (pictured)
Pinned with the caption ‘Turning The Page’, 2013’s RFF programme both looks back on, and takes from, the New Wave, and also moves past it to a whole new phase. All its containing films are shown for the first time in Britain, and star the likes of Victor Rebengiuc (who shines as the prodigal son in the acclaimed ‘Japanese Dog’), actor/director Horatiu Malaele (from ‘Happy Funerals’, a biting examination of death and destiny), and on-screen trio Dragos Bucur, Alexandru Papadopol and Dorian Boguta (pictured) – three trainers at a ‘relationships camp’ in ‘Love Building’. Details and tickets here.

MUSIC: Crystal Stilts, Cargo, 28 Nov
Dark psych shackle-shakers Crystal Stilts shared their latest LP ‘Nature Noir’ – a black morass of ashy guitar drawls – earlier this autumn. Take in a post-release blast of it tonight at Shoreditch cave Cargo, in a top-of-bill performance that’s propped up by supports The Proper Ornaments. Details and tickets here.
