And the LDN-based events the ThisWeek team is tipping today are….
COMEDY: Comedy Tree w/ Pete Firman + Ria Lina, House Of Roxy, 8 May
Chilling in the shade of tonight’s Pete Jonas-MC’d Comedy Tree showcase are the magical Pete Firman and world-wise wit Ria Lina. Details and tickets here.
DANCE: Northern Ballet – Mixed Works, Linbury Studio Theatre, 8-10 May
This triple bill of works features a commission from rising Northern Ballet star Kenneth Tindall, who choreographs the bold and physical ‘Luminous Juncture’ to a score by contemporary composers Max Richter, Ólafur Arnalds and Hans Zimmer. Also part of the programme are Hans Van Manen’s coolly erotic ‘Concertante’ and American master Lar Lubovitch’s classic ‘Concerto Six Twenty-Two’. Details and tickets here.
SPOKEN WORD/DANCE/THEATRE: Shame, Roundhouse, 8-10 May
B-boy John Berkavitch and a company of hip hop dancers and spoken word artists move to the notion of wasted chances, bad choices and ‘Shame’ in this narrative show, which combines live art, animation and an original score by electronic DJ/vocalists Jamie Woon and Royce Wood Jr. Details and tickets here.
