TODAY IN LONDON, TW’s tipped events feature the English National Ballet, tipped rock-pop commodities Shopping, and zany character actor Beth Vyse…
COMEDY: Beth Vyse – Going Dark!, Etcetera Theatre, 9 Jan
Character actress and connoisseur-of-noir Beth Vyse’s “incredibly crude and unfathomably odd” show is, nonetheless, smart, and a bona fide showbiz original. Playing at the Etcetera tonight for the final time, ‘Going Dark!’ catches Vyse on a fantastical trip into the surreal life of dying starlet Betsy Lynn. Details and tickets here.
DANCE: English National Ballet – Le Corsaire, London Coliseum, 9-19 Jan (pictured)
‘Le Corsaire’, an OTT pirate fantasy based in a far eastern harem, is famed for its muscular, high-jumping male roles. The ENB’s spirited interpretation gets going this evening. Details and tickets here.
MUSIC: Shopping, Hoxton Square Bar & Kitchen, 9 Jan
Staccato popniks Shopping trolley on over to the Hoxton Sq Bar for a live trip in the name of Artrocker’s New Blood Festival, their motive in doing so being to sell their new LP ‘Consumer Complaints’ to the people. You’ll also find support on the night from Tigercub, Bad Grammar and The Pearl Harts. Details and tickets here.
