Today in London: Friday 11 January 2013
By TW Editorial | Published on Sunday 6 January 2013
The weekend is upon us once again, and now that the festive and New Year celebrations all seem like some kind of very, very, very distant memory, let’s cheer ourselves up this January day with one of the following comedic or theatrical treats…
TODAY’S COMEDY CHOICES
Chris Ramsey – Feeling Lucky, Bloomsbury Theatre, 11-12 Jan
Having just starred in the BBC’s rather likeable 2012 series ‘Hebburn’, Tyneside ladies’ fave Chris Ramsey retells the making of his new telly fame; plus science, genealogy, the universe, and everything else. Event details and tickets here.
TODAY’S THEATRE CHOICES
The London Improvathon, Hoxton Hall, 11-13 Jan (pictured)
Extempore Theatre presents its sixth annual Improvathon, a sleepless soap opera spectacular in 25 two-hour acts, with a gaudy 1920s Egyptian theme. Event details and tickets here.
No Quarter, Jerwood Space at Royal Court Theatre, 11 Jan – 9 Feb
Ambitious playwright Polly Stenham tailors her third script ‘No Quarter’, a slant on the traditional drawing room drama, to fit the Royal Court’s upstairs Jerwood Space. Her erstwhile right hand, Jeremy Herrin, directs a cast featuring Tom Sturridge and Maureen Beattie. Event details and tickets here.
