Behold, a shortlist of cultural solutions to light up this gloomy Monday…
TODAY’S COMEDY CHOICES
Are You Taking The Peace?, Comedy Store, 16 Sep
Giving peace a chance at this event in aid of anti-volence charity International Alert are comic ambassadors like straight-talking/slightly sassy TV personality Shappi Khorsandi, smart character actress Sara Pascoe, Paul Foot’s ‘CrashPad’ co-star Tiffany Stevenson and the lovely Holly Walsh. Details and tickets here.
Outside The Box feat Isy Suttie/Andrew Bird/Maff Brown, Outside The Box Comedy Club Kingston, 16 Sep
As if Isy Suttie, Andrew Bird and Maff Brown weren’t adequate draws at tonight’s anti-average stand-up pageant, there’s always the evening’s added attraction: a pair of special secret guests. Details and tickets here.
TODAY’S THEATRE CHOICES
London Stories, Battersea Arts Centre, 16-28 Sep (pictured)
Doing rather darn close to what it says on the tin (or in the title), ‘London Stories’ is a patchwork narrative made up of stories told by real Londoners and recreated by actors. The (amazing) twist is that spectators can only hear them one-to-one, in pairs or, at most, tiny parties. Details and tickets here.
