Aziz Ansari

Granted, we’d all secretly quite like to pass most of this pleasant Saturday sunbathing and lazing, but there’s still space in the timetable for a little ‘artistic enlightenment’, the path leading to which is via these easy steps…

TODAY’S COMEDY CHOICES

Aziz Ansari – Buried Alive, Hammersmith Apollo, 15 Jun (pictured)
Actor, comic and sardonic pal to rapstars Kanye West and Jay-Z, Aziz Ansari’s agenda tonight isn’t at all recreational, or based in a park. Sharp, cool, and nobody’s fool, Ansari is always pro, and will be showing that tonight via his first British gig in five years. Details and tickets .

TODAY’S MUSIC CHOICES

Festifeel, Islington Metal Works, 15 Jun
This year’s Festifeel MD Fearne Cotton has chosen Maverick Sabre, Tribes, Gabrielle Aplin, Mista Jam, VV Brown, Goldierocks, Abandoman, Chloë Howl and ‘X-Factor’ alum Kye Sones as the acts she wants to watch, and all as a favour to the one charity most close to her heart/bosom, breast cancer combattants CoppaFeel! Details and tickets here.

Maria Minerva, Peckham Palais, 15 Jun
Estonian alt-pop starlets are fairly rare, as, by proxy, is tonight’s sighting of Estonian alt-pop starlet Maria Minerva. She’ll be gracing Peckham’s famed Palais this eve, primarily to play her dazed, narcotic line in lo-fi hypno-pop to anyone who’ll listen. Details and tickets here.

TODAY’S THEATRE CHOICES

Tutto Bene, Mamma?, The Print Room, 15 Jun – 6 Jul
What sets April de Angelis’s translation of this “immersive” play by Italian writer Gloria Mina, as is based on the real life tale of a mother and her young son, is that it’s staged with the lights off. Like, in total pitch blackness. Details and tickets here.
