Tony Law

So it’s Record Store Day today, and that means millions (literally) of RSD specials are on sale in participating vinyl shops all over; not least wax-based rarities, one-off collaborations and RSD-directed schemes (the charitable and artsy Secret 7″ initiative and independent label Song, By Toad’s ‘Beer v Records’ showdown).

But wait, save the rifling for later, and first drop those cultural needles on this triple A-side cultural symphony…

TODAY’S COMEDY CHOICES

Tony Law – Maximum Nonsense, Udderbelly SouthBank, 20 Apr (pictured)
One of the top draws of this year’s Udderbelly festival, mad-Canada-man Tony Law reprises his 5/5-rated Fringe sensation one last time, dialling his surrealist silliness to the max… all whilst mining the meaning of life, no mean feat. Details and tickets here.

TODAY’S MUSIC CHOICES

The Cave Club, Buffalo Bar, 20 Apr
The Cave Club DJs – The Horrors’ Rhys Webb, Tom Furse and Coffin Joe – spin an oscillatory OST for lovers of 1960s R&B, garage and hypnogogic pop, and Neil’s Children sidle nonchalantly in to play live. Details and tickets here.

Record Store Day show feat Wire/Matthew E White/Frank Turner/Steve Mason/Smoke Fairies/Gabrielle Aplin/Brainiac 5, 1 Berwick St, 20 Apr
In addition to all the Record Store Day treats that are purchasable today, the above artistes will be playing live and unticketed in front of Soho-based RSD poster shop 1 Berwick Street. Details here.
