TODAY’S FILM CHOICES

Film 4 FrightFest All-Nighter, Vue Cinema Leicester Square, 27 Oct (pictured)
Film 4 pre-empts various ‘official’ Halloween night happenings with a dusk till dawn FrightFest. The festival’s five-film programme creeps into being with the GB premiere of Sundance-selected horror ‘Excision’, also screening Jessica Biel’s new psychological thriller ‘The Tall Man’, deep sea slasher ‘Bait 3D’, and a gory glut of others. £50 tickets available here.

Rex Manning Day, Prince Charles Cinema, 27 Oct
Mid-1990s movie ‘Empire Records’, a cult teen staple and breakout moment for then-grunge-youths Liv Tyler and Renee Zellweger, is screening at the Prince Charles this evening. The showing starts at 8.30pm – so far, so normal – but is preceded by a party in the name of greasy pop lothario Rex Manning, so book for both (part inc in the price of a ticket) via this PCC page. And FYI: fancy dress is “strongly encouraged”.
