Today in London: Saturday 9 February 2013
By TW Editorial | Published on Friday 1 February 2013
So it’s James MacAvoy Da… I mean, so it’s Saturday, and we’re all well aware what that means. Yes, that’s right, it means music, theatre, and a wealth of London-based cultural riches…
TODAY’S MUSIC CHOICES
Lee ‘Scratch’ Perry, Jazz Cafe, 9 Feb
Game-changing reggae/dub great Lee ‘Scratch’ Perry Jah-blesses Camden’s Jazz Cafe with his legendary presence. Details and tickets here.
Plan B, O2 Arena, 9 Feb
Hip hop/R&B urbanite Plan B, aka Ben Drew, has said he’s going to take a ‘fame hiatus’ for a year or so soon, if only so he can find rap-inspiration in real-life things, thus ‘keeping it real’ when it comes to making a new LP. But since that’s not happened just yet, tonight he’ll still be in fame-mode and playing tracks from his 2012 LP (and film score) ‘Ill Manors’. Details and tickets here.
TODAY’S THEATRE CHOICES
Macbeth, Trafalgar Studios, 9 Feb – 27 Apr (pictured)
Okay, so given that directorial mover/shaker Jamie Lloyd’s dark and deathly ‘Scottish Play’ is 100% booked til mid-March, this is a notice to ‘book tonight’, rather than ‘go tonight’. Those doing so will buy the chance to be nose-to-nose with the play’s stars James McAvoy and Claire Foy, by the way. Oh, and cheap £10-15 seats are still available. Details and tickets here.
