A still-secret set of The Invisible Dot’s New Wave cuts its comedic teeth at the promoter’s Kings Cross HQ, with a national tour in the offing. Minimal details etc here.
PLEB Talks Live: Myths & Legends, secret Euston location, 11 Oct
The ever legendary PLEB Talks roster – which tonight stars David Trent, Pat Cahill, John-Luke Roberts, Ian Smith, Bec Hill, Joe Wells, Rick Turpin, Ben Target, Rick Turpin and MC supreme Nish Kumar – props up the lectern with its collective musings on “ancient and modern life”. TODAY’S MUSIC CHOICES
City Showcase, various venues, 9-13 Oct
New music festival City Showcase continues in venues across central London, with workshops and debates by day, and gigs and showcases by night (well, actually, there’s a couple of gigs by day too). In the former, look out for the A&R Panel, with experts providing on-the-spot critiques about new artists’ live performances (X-Factor style, though with more talented performers). TODAY’S VISUAL ART CHOICES
Frieze Art Fair, Regent’s Park, 11-14 Oct (pictured)
Never mind the Tate’s Turner Prize expo (well do, but also mind this), because Frieze London is back exhibiting and selling its artistic wares. Over a thousand artists from 170 galleries are represented via their various illustrations, ceramics and good old fashioned oil-on-canvases, while an external programme of events features a free-to-view Sculpture Park, a series of Frieze Talks by international curators and commentators, not to mention Frieze Film, five new cinema commisions by Bertrand Dezoteux, Patricia Esquivias, Jimmy Merris, John Smith and Wu Tsang & Nana Oforiatta-Ayim.
