“Pretty inventive” (said ThreeWeeks) comedian Zoe Lyons unzips a mixed bag of incidental musings and real re-tellings of several ill-advised television appearances she’s made, asking (as she says in this TW Quick Quiz); “what it feels like being the thickest person who has ever appeared on ‘University Challenge’; and how life can leave you feeling jealous of a dog in a wheelchair”. Peckham And Nunhead Free Film Festival, various locations, 5-15 Sep
Every event at this Peckham/Nunhead-bridging film fest is free, so minimal prep is needed to see the likes of a bike-powered ‘Edward Scissorhands’ screening, Scott Willis’ stark ‘The Woodmans’ shown at Canavan’s pool bar, Jacques Cousteau’s ‘World Without Sun’ at the Centre For Wildlife Gardening, and even ‘Ginger And Rosa’ at pizza-specialising eatery/drinkery The Gowlett. Braving a follow-on to his impossible-to-follow Olivier-winning last play ‘Matilda The Musical’, ‘Utopia’ creator Dennis Kelly takes protagonist Gorge on a trip, from innocence to savage avarice and complicated candour, as he sacrifices moralty, kindness and compassion in order to advance.
