Today in London: Tuesday 15 January 2013
By TW Editorial | Published on Tuesday 8 January 2013
Don’t forget the previously plugged London International Mime Festival continues this week, with French-based group My!Laika, Chinese puppeteer Yeung Fai and Brits Stan’s Cafe all performing tonight.
Meanwhile, other things comedic and musical…
TODAY’S COMEDY CHOICES
Rubberbandits, Soho Theatre, 15 Jan – 2 Feb (pictured)
An Irish rap posse made (in)famous by a certain esquestrian-themed viral skit, the Rubberbandits stage a noisy Soho takeover in non-breathable synthetic face-masks. Event details and tickets here.
Weirdos Comedy Presents… New Year, New Material, The Lion at Kings Cross, 15 Jan
That Weirdos lot presents a does-what-it-says-on-the-tin night of new comic stylings aptly suited to the new year. Adam Larter MCs an evening featuring seedling new sets by Mark Stephenson, Darren Walsh, Beth Vyse, Ali Brice and Joz Norris.
TODAY’S MUSIC CHOICES
Wu-Block, The Garage, 15 Jan
Usually NYC-based hip hop collaborators Ghostface Killah (also of Wu-Tang Clan) and D-Block’s Sheek Louch – aka Wu-Block – have made a joint LP specifically designed “for the street”, and its name is, unsurprisingly, ‘Wu-Block’. They’ll be playing parts of it live at The Garage this evening, just FYI. Event details and tickets here.
