Luisa Omielan – What Would Beyonce Do?, Comedy Café Theatre, 9 Oct – 27 Nov (pictured)
Edinburgh Fringe golden girl Luisa Omielan applies her anecdotal comic candour to the London premiere of ‘What Would Beyonce Do?’, a study in adoration and self-confession with the ‘independent woman’ at its heart. Since it’s free and thus destined to be booked out in moments, tickets for the show may only be reserved either by tweeting @luisaomielan with #whatwouldbeyoncedo, by emailing info@iloveluisa.com with #WWBD as the subject line, or by writing on Luisa’s Facebook wall.
Scott Capurro’s Position (with second banana David Mills), Soho Theatre Downstairs, 9-13 Oct
Critics’ darling Scott Capurro flaunts his acerbic chat format at the Soho Downstairs, trading sharp repartee with sideshow foil David Mills. Sharing the sofa (and scrutiny) will be celebrity guests Tara Palmer Tomkinson, Fenella Fielding, ‘Gentlewoman’ editor Penny Martin, dancer Javier de Frutos and jazz queen Barb Jungr. City Showcase, various venues, 9-13 Oct
So London’s new music festival City Showcase kicks off today. This is the new talent event that gave the likes of Amy Winehouse, Hot Chip, N-Dubz, Razorlight, Laura Marling, Keane, Newton Faulkner, Gallows and Razorlight some of their earliest moments in the limelight. You’ll find new artists performing in shops and venues across central London over the next few days, while future talent will be able to learn from industry experts with workshops at the Apple Store on Regent Street and the Gibson Guitar Studio on Rathbone Street. And how to I know all this? Because we’ve only produced a full TW:Guide to the whole thing, which you can access here. The official launch party is tonight at The Bedford in Balham from 7.30pm.

All That Fall, Jermyn Street Theatre, 9 Oct – 3 Nov
One of London’s more diminutive theatres, the 70-capacity Jermyn proves size is of little significance in the light of a prestigious staging of Samuel Beckett’s ‘All That Fall’. Trevor Nunn directs Michael Gambon and Eileen Atkins in what’s sure to be a one-act dramatic masterclass, tickets for which are unsurprisingly scarce. Stay fixed to this page in case of last minute miracles and/or returns.
