TODAY’S COMEDY CHOICES
BBQ Previews feat Colin Hoult/Claudia O’Doherty, The Invisible Dot, 12 Jun
The Invisible Dot grills a fine rib-rack of tasty comic fare; basically laying on a pair of bready pre-Fringe previews with a meaty slab of real live BBQ in between. Starting things off tonight are Claudia O’Doherty and her far-sighted post-‘Telescope’ show and Colin Hoult, who’ll be taking his crazy new character-based beast ‘Characthorse’ for a trial canter. Details and tickets here.
TODAY’S THEATRE CHOICES
The Beast, Pleasance Theatre, 12 Jun (pictured)
Stuart Bowden’s charmingly odd (and, at times, melancholy) solo show, the musical tale of its titular cave-creature, attracted a great deal of acclaim at last year’s Fringe. Catch it again, if you can, tonight at the Pleasance Islington. Details and tickets here.
TODAY’S VISUAL ART CHOICES
A Crisis Of Brilliance, Dulwich Picture Gallery, 12 Jun – 22 Sep
The increasingly visitable DPG trails its acclaimed last exhibit, ‘Murillo & Justino de Neve: The Art of Friendship’, with a mixed show of over 70 original paintings by CRW Nevinson, Stanley Spencer, Mark Gertler, Dora Carrington,David Bomberg and Paul Nash who, having gone to London’s Slade School Of Art at the same time, later became famed for their bold Great War-era portraits. Details and tickets here.
