Mild-mannered TV wit Miles Jupp takes a bewildered bite of various pressing dilemmas in his life – hot drinks, having to have opinions, poor balance, aging, pants and other spicy topics – in a show billed simply as “a man, standing on a stage, talking about some things and ultimately aiming to cover the cost of his white goods”. Tonight’s contemporary take on a trad variety night – a feast of all kinds of film clips, live acts, and multimedia funnies – features kitsch sketch revellers Birthday Girls, lite-entertainment ‘legend’ Quint Fontana, stand-ups Wil Greenway and Mat Ewins, and character actress Katie Bridget O’Brien as her twisted alias Trishelle. Minneapolis ear-killers Marijuana Deathsquads – a ‘gang’ featuring Gayngs producer Ryan Olson, vocalist Isaac Hale and, occasionally, Har Mar Superstar and part of Poliça – mark up their first LP, un-divine tribute ‘Oh My Sexy Lord’ (honestly), which came out all the way back in January.
