And the LDN-based events the ThisWeek team is tipping today are…
COMEDY: Simon Evans – Leashed | Soho Theatre | 12-23 Aug
Esteemed ThreeWeeks interviewee Simon Evans, who isn’t a fan of wild n whiskey-snorting-type comedians, instead pays his respects to ‘Leashed’ entertainers like Frank Muir and Humphrey Littleton, also talking marriage, kids, and the limitations of life in the middle-class. Details and tickets here.
MUSIC: Grumbling Fur + Tim Burgess | Corsica Studios | 12 Aug (pictured)
Interplanetary psych cadets Grumbling Fur, aka experimental pairing Daniel O’Sullivan and Alexander Tucker, fly their strange and spangly new disc ‘Preternaturals’, which lifts off (aka is released) in tandem with tonight’s set. Part-time Charlatans man Tim Burgess also plays a solo acoustic show of his own, appearing again with his headliners-in-chief since he features on ‘Preternaturals’ track ‘Lightsinisters’. Details and tickets here.
MUSIC: Sinead O’Connor | Roundhouse | 12 Aug
The OG bald vocalist, Irish icon Sinead O’Connor, proves nothing compares 2 her tenth solo LP ‘I’m Not Bossy, I’m The Boss’, which represents a fresh phase in her career (and her style), and is released this week. Well, yesterday (ie 11 Aug). She plays select tracks off it tonight, as well as her all-time defining hits. Details and tickets here.
