And the LDN-based events the ThisWeek team is tipping today are….
ART: Kenneth Clark – Looking For Civilisation | Tate Britain | 20 May – 10 Aug
The Tate spotlights the life’s work of late art historian and broadcaster Kenneth Clark, showing off his private trove of paintings, and looking at the vital part he played in fostering great works from the Bloomsbury Group and leading artists like Henry Moore, Victor Pasmore, John Piper and Graham Sutherland. Details and tickets here.
CABARET/COMEDY: Meow Meow – Feline Intimate | London Wonderground | 20 May – 8 Jun (pictured)
Always a hot ticket, kamikaze showkitty Meow Meow is back on the scene, still blazing trails and singing, satirising, and wearing sequins like a dream. Details and tickets here.
DANCE: Rambert Dance Company – ABC | Sadler’s Wells Theatre | 20-24 May
Athletic dance crew Rambert represent the dance alphabet via: ‘Rooster’, Christopher Bruce’s epic 1960s setpiece, which is set to a score by the Rolling Stones; Lucinda Childs’ ultra-minimalist ‘Four Elements’; late ballet master Merce Cunningham’s iconic ‘Sounddance’; and Richard Alston’s short sharp solo work ‘Dutiful Ducks’.
