And the LDN-based events the ThisWeek team is tipping today are….
COMEDY: Jenny Eclair | Bowler Hat, Paternoster Sq | 24 Jun
Jenny Eclair is first comic on at this year’s ma-ha-hoo-ssive City Of London Festival, which begins this week with entertaining arts events, parades and taking place… well, everywhere, really. Perrier-winning gem Jenny gets ‘Eclairious’ in the fest’s all-new central tent, The Bowler Hat, which over the next few weeks will be brimming with cabaret, comedy, circus and theatre-type attractions. Details and tickets here.
THEATRE: The Kindness Of Strangers | Watford Palace Theatre | 2-28 Jun (pictured)
Taking place inside a real, moving ambulance in transit, Curious Directive writers Jack Lowe and Russell Woodhead’s oft-fraught, of-life-affirming insight into the NHS’ front-line is free to view for these five days at Watford Palace Theatre, with daily take-off times set at 11am, 1pm, 3pm, 6pm and 8pm. The play moves to Southwark Playhouse for a paying run from 1-12 Jul. Details here.
THEATRE: The Notebook | Battersea Arts Centre | 24-26 Jun
Experimental wave-makers Forced Entertainment present this take on Ágota Kristóf’s tale of two twin boys evacuated to their grandma’s farm; a bold, crisp and stark narrative of morals, codes and naive logic. Details and tickets here.
