A hit show from Edinburgh Fringe 2013, a food film from 2012, and a musical treat can all be found in this helping of ThisWeek’s tipped events…

COMEDY: David Baddiel – Fame: Not The Musical, Menier Chocolate Factory, 29 Apr – 23 May
Billed as “a meditation on a life lived in (and out of) fame”, David Baddiel’s critics-pleasing solo show  finds him acting all self-deprecating re his footie lad / new man / ‘token Jew’ press image and the significance, if any, of celebrity. Details and tickets here.

FILM: OS Cinema presents… Spinning Plates, Oval Space, 29 Apr
OvalSpace’s on-site cinema hosts a one-time showing of director Joseph Levy’s 2012 doc, a “foodie phantasmagoria” (said The LA Times) that balances three real-life narratives set inside three eateries; a high-end Chicago chef aiming to win a revered prize, a century-old restaurant in Iowa, and a brand new Mexican beanery that’s in peril. Pre-screening refreshments and a post-film conversation are optional extras. Details and tickets here.

MUSIC: Micah P Hinson, Union Chapel, 29 Apr (pictured)
Tonight, Texan singer and old soul Micah P recreates his latest LP, the abyss-gazing ‘Micah P Hinson And The Nothing’, filling the gaps with the many, many highlights of his lifetime oeuvre. Details and tickets here.
