Cabaret Comedy Theatre
Tuesday 4 February 2014 in London
By TW Editorial | Published on Wednesday 29 January 2014
TODAY IN LONDON, TW’s tipped events feature cabaret candour c/o dark-master-of-camp Scottee, ugly comic honesty from Bridget Christie, Karl Schultz and Josie Long, and a post-WW2 ghost story…
CABARET: The Worst Of Scottee, Roundhouse, 4-15 Feb (pictured)
Stationed inside a photo booth to start with, darkling cabaret star Scottee soon strips away the silliness with a poignant overspill of his life’s past sins, shamings and sorrows. Details and tickets here.
COMEDY: It Might Get Ugly feat Bridget Christie/John Kearns/Josie Long, The Harrison, 4 Feb
Absurdist stand-up Karl Schultz acts as chief harraguer to a gaggle of unwitting truth-sayers, who are encouraged to take the ultimate, brutal plunge, and be 100% honest with a room-ful of paying punters. Guests on hand are the simply brill Bridget Christie, and tip top comics Josie Long, John Kearns, Bob Slayer and Brett Goldstein. Details and tickets here.
THEATRE: The White Carnation, Jermyn Street Theatre, 3-22 Feb
Having first staged it in 2012, Jermyn Street again revives ‘Goodbye Mr Chips’ playwright RC Sherriff’s lesser-seen supernatural serial circa 1953. In it, a wealthy businessman locks himself out of his house after a party, only to break back in and realise all is not as it once was. Details and tickets here.
