And the LDN-based events the ThisWeek team is tipping today are….
DANCE: Scottish Ballet – Romeo & Juliet | Sadler’s Wells Theatre | 14-18 May
Active since 1957, Scotland’s national company dances this vigorous production of ‘Romeo & Juliet’, created for the ballet in 2008 by Polish choreog Krysztof Pastor. Details and tickets here.
COMEDY: Shirley & Shirley – Carnage | Soho Theatre | 14 May (pictured)
As heard blowing the doors off BBC Radio 4’s ‘Sketchorama’, vivacious twosome Shirley & Shirley drive home a hectic selection of “fantastically funny” 2-minute mini-skits. And if you’re slow to grasp the joke, the Shirleys WILL throw balls at you. Details and tickets here.
THEATRE: Glasshouse | Roundhouse | 14-18 May
Switching over to the Roundhouse following various past runs at smaller sites, Cardboard Citizens and it-girl spoken word artist Kate Tempest’s ‘Glasshouse’ is comprised of three short stories, told from the POV of three different members of the same fragile family. And post-interval, the cast will invite the audience to pause the narratives, come on stage and practise alternative scenarios and positive changes to the script. Details and tickets here.
