TODAY IN LONDON, TW’s tipped events feature a white-knuckle Russian circus swing, a vampiric romance, and a portrait of a pauper’s funeral…
FESTIVAL: CircusFest 2014, Roundhouse, 26 Mar – 21 Apr (pictured)
Five glittering weeks of agile big-top shenanigans begin this evening with Bertil Nilsson’s cleverly-lit commission ‘Luminescence’, a light-hearted aerial riff on femininity in ‘Expectation’, and the British premiere of French piece ‘La Meute’, aka ‘The Wolf Pack’, in which a gang of acrobats use a giant ‘Russian Swing’ to hoist themselves high in air. Details and tickets here.
THEATRE: Let The Right One In, Apollo Shaftesbury, 26 Mar – 27 Sep
Following a flit from its last seat at the Royal Court Theatre, the National Theatre Of Scotland reprises its chill and spiny adaptation of the acclaimed Swedish (and now, Hollywood) film-story of a little girl vampire’s oddly warming relationship with a mortal boy. Details and tickets here.
THEATRE: The Nine O’Clock Slot, Red Gallery, 26 Mar
Fire&Ice, specialists in shining a light on human rights in their theatre, confront the rising instance of the ‘pauper’s funeral’ in present-day Britain via an immersive 360° mix of film, choreography, spoken-word poetry, physical comedy, song and dance. Details and tickets here.
