By TW Editorial | Published on Thursday 30 January 2014
TODAY IN LONDON, TW’s tipped events feature the one and only David Hockney, grandiose Irish guitarsmiths Girls Names, and radio/TV comic Tim Fitzhigham…
ART: Hockney – Printmaker, Dulwich Picture Gallery, 5 Feb – 11 May (pictured)
As one of Britain’s greatest living artists celebrates the sixtieth anniversary of his first ever print, so does this show – which displays over 100 lithographs, etchings, portraits, ‘homemade’ photocopier prints and computer drawings, a prototype for Hockney’s famed iPad works. Details and tickets here.
COMEDY: Tim FitzHigham, Pleasance Theatre, 5 Feb
Comedy’s most daring ‘Gambler‘ and one-time ThreeWeeks Editors’ Award winner Tim FitzHigham takes all kinds of risks and feats in his stride. Having sailed a paper boat 160 miles and entered himself (minus a horse) into a horse race, FitzHigham safety-tests his latest ideas – with stand-up included – in this ‘work-in-progress’ show at the Pleasance. Details and tickets here.
MUSIC: Girls Names, Concrete, 5 Feb
A band of the highest, gloomiest Smiths-ian order, Girls Names provide us a live playback of their 2013 LP ‘The New Life’. Details tickets here.
