And today’s ThisWeek-tipped, LDN-based events are…
COMEDY: Kieran Hodgson – French Exchange | Pleasance Theatre | 5 Nov (pictured)
On “hilarious and frankly horrifying” form at his last show – the “tour de force” that was ‘Flood’ – versatile character comedian Kieran Hodgson rings in his latest creation, ‘French Exchange’, by sharing with ‘l’histoire’ of a 2003 school trip to stay with a family in France. Details and tickets here.
FESTIVAL: Currency | The Place | 5-15 Nov
A ‘bonkers’ performance festival to tweak the mind and senses; The Place’s Currency will, in 2014, feature two wildly differing shows per night in the main theatre, and on the side, a series of ‘Blind Dates’ between British performers, ‘in conversation’ events, and food-and-art-based titillation c/o interactive cafe Hunt & Darton. Shaping the first-night are ‘Bruit De Couloir’ (a slow-motion ‘celebration of life’ by French circus/dance artist Clément Dazin), and Finnish pairing Anna Maria Häkkinen & Jarkko Partanen’s ‘Dig My Jockey’, an erotic look at fetishes, with an equine twist. Details and tickets here.
THEATRE: Longwave | Shoreditch Town Hall | until 8 Nov
A play articulated totally sans words; writer/director Chris Goode’s 100% silent ‘Longwave’ is the bleakly comic story of two scientist (played by Tom Lyall and Jamie Wood) living together in a shed, in the middle of nowhere. Details and tickets here.
