ART/FILM: The Fashion World Of Jean Paul Gaultier, Barbican, 9 Apr – 25 Aug (pictured)
The Barbican draws a long, tall high-ball of fashion artistry in this, an exploration of French haute-couturier (and originator of the ‘man-skirt) Gaultier’s weird, daring and decadent style-scape. At the heart of the exhibition, which is titled ‘From The Sidewalk To The Catwalk’, are over 160 garments and costumes, such as Madonna’s infamous conical bra, and an array of photo and film snapshots of JP’s collaborations with the likes of David LaChapelle, Miles Aldridge and Andy Warhol. Details and tickets here.
THEATRE: Oh My Sweet Land, Young Vic, 9 Apr – 3 May
Positioned at the crossroads of love and war, Amir Nizar Zuabi’s Syria-based play is a two-way collaboration with its originator, actor Corinne Jaber, who stars as a woman looking for a lost loved one. Details and tickets here.
