The Fashion World Of Jean Paul Gaultier

TODAY IN LONDON, ThisWeek’s tipped events feature high-style king Jean Paul Gaultier, Palestinian playwright Amir Nizar Zuabi, and comic titillation c/o Mae Martin, Rachel Stubbings and Patrick Turpin…

COMEDY: An Arousing Night feat Richard Herring/Mae Martin/Patrick Turpin, Drink Shop & Do, 9 Apr
Tonight’s ‘Arousing’ co-hosts, po-faced agony aunt Rachel Stubbings and oddball comic Lou Sanders, MC the stimulating likes of no-frills wit Mae Martin, all-natural stand-up Patrick Turpin, and virtual unknown Richard Herring, whoever he is. Details and tickets here.

ART/FILM: The Fashion World Of Jean Paul Gaultier, Barbican, 9 Apr – 25 Aug (pictured)
The Barbican draws a long, tall high-ball of fashion artistry in this, an exploration of French haute-couturier (and originator of the ‘man-skirt) Gaultier’s weird, daring and decadent style-scape. At the heart of the exhibition, which is titled ‘From The Sidewalk To The Catwalk’, are over 160 garments and costumes, such as Madonna’s infamous conical bra, and an array of photo and film snapshots of JP’s collaborations with the likes of David LaChapelle, Miles Aldridge and Andy Warhol. Details and tickets here.

THEATRE: Oh My Sweet Land, Young Vic, 9 Apr – 3 May
Positioned at the crossroads of love and war, Amir Nizar Zuabi’s Syria-based play is a two-way collaboration with its originator, actor Corinne Jaber, who stars as a woman looking for a lost loved one. Details and tickets here.
