It's your weekly guide to culture in the capital. Chris Cooke and Tom Bragg are joined by Chris Turner and Tamar Broadbent, who are both performing their Edinburgh Fringe shows from August in London this week. Plus we get a snippet of Mathilda Gregory's play 'Werewolf Erotica, She Wrote' and a poem from Mr Tim Key.

REBECCA ATKINSON-LORD: MILKMILKLEMONADE AT OVALHOUSE
Cult American theatrical hit 'MilkMilkLemonade' makes its UK debut at Ovalhouse this month. This particular production has been directed by one of the venue's two artistic directors, Rebecca Atkinson-Lord. I sent some questions over to Rebecca, to find out more about the play, the playwright Joshua Conkel, and what else is coming up at Ovalhouse. You can read the interview here.

Sketch pairing Max & Ivan MC this 10 x 10 x 10-type event, which features ten ten minute sets by ten comics – not least Edinburgh Comedy Award-winning new face Alex Edelman, misanthropic stand-up Nina Nesbitt, 'Friday Night Dinner' goof Tom Rosenthal, skittish flatmates Pappy's, acclaimed character actor Sara Pascoe, and five others besides. And it's aaaaaaalll in aid of Artsdepot's – you know it – tenth birthday. American actor/director David Cromer steers his 'intimate' critically-praised reimagining of Thornton Wilder's 'Our Town', the microcosmic story of a man and woman living, loving and probably laughing a bit in a small US... municipality. Details and tickets here.

THEATRE: The Cherry Orchard | Young Vic | 10 Oct – 29 Nov
Scripted by 'Curious Incident' playwright Simon Stephens and directed by fearless theatre-maker Katie Mitchell, this production of Anthon Chekhov's final play 'The Cherry Orchard' is apparently, or so its billing exclaims, a 'vigorous and profound' English-spoken take on the 1904 original, a poignant love-note to a world in violent transition. MUSIC/FESTIVAL: Hackney Wonderland | various locations | 11 Oct
An indie-rock all-dayer – the likes of which hasn't been seen in the East End since the zenith of, say, articulate pop auteurs Art Brut and Tyne-And-Wear-based tykes Little Comets – Hackney Wonderland takes over a three mile strip of the E8 district to present live sets by the likes of chance headliners Art Brut and Little Comets, and Crocodiles, O Children, The Oscillation and Babyshambles man Drew McConnell. THEATRE/SPOKEN WORD: Fuel – Phenomenal People | Camden People's Theatre | 11-12 Oct
A series of speeches and performed pieces set in a special inside garden, 'Phenomenal People' will feature ladies-in-the-arts like Jenny Sealey (who created the 2012 Paralympics opening ceremony), stand-up Rachel Mars and designer Sophia Clist celebrating the women who inspire them the most. A well-paced benefit gala evening-type affair in aid of England's national roller derby team (and why not?), The Richard Sandling MC'd Grin Bin is literally spilling over with an embarrassment of comic riches; not least a headlining set by TV/theatre trash man Phill Jupitus, sketch pals Pappy's, Scandi stand-up Sofie Hagen, and even 'Game Of Thrones' actress Gemma Whelan. FILM: Chantal Akerman Day | JW3 | 12 Oct
Lovers-of-film A Nos Amours host this daytime symposium on artist and filmmaker Chantal Akerman, who specialises in meditations on loneliness, anxiety, alienation and unease. Alongside a number of curated showings of her work; the programme includes short papers, panel discussions, screenings of interviews – and indeed a live Q&A – with Akerman herself. FESTIVAL: London Horror Festival | Etcetera Theatre | 13-31 Oct
So, it's the most spookiest time of the year, and what festival so apt to celebrate that fact as the Etcetera's frighteningly brill blood-nanza of theatre and 'live arts'; which features the all-female Dante/Bard megamix 'Shakespeare In Hell', an arch dramatisation of 'Gentlemen Of Horror' Christopher Lee and Peter Cushing's real life and on-cam relationship, haunting one-woman play 'Greywing House', and an additional clot of cabaret, magic, and hammer-style silliness. ART: ICA Off-Site | The Old Selfridges Hotel | 14-18 Oct
Team ICA check into the listed Old Selfridges Hotel for a week of free-entry events, designed to coincide with this year's Frieze London art fair. Brooklyn-based dancer and curator Isabel Lewis kicks things off with a sequence of dance 'occasions' modelled on the drinking/love-making/philsophising symposiums of ancient Greece; with latter ICA link-ins with online-only alt station NTS Radio, the Siobhan Davies Dance co, NYC art man Korakrit Arunanondchai culminating in a 'summit' on contemporary art and 'the politics of digital dirculation'. ART: MirrorCity | Hayward Gallery | 14 Oct – 4 Jan 2015
A showcase of various artists' reactions to the physical/abstract realities of life in 'digital age', 'MirrorCity' features features special commissions, and recently-made creations relevant to the theme, by Mohammed Qasim Ashfaq, Anne Hardy, Ursula Mayer, Katrina Palmer, Laure Prouvost, Hannah Sawtell, Lindsay Seers, John Stezaker and Lynette Yiadom-Boakye. Having awed critics and norms with his last play 'Invasion!', Jamie Harper once again looks to the Khemiri theatre co to 'make real' his latest script, which traces (and tangles) the lives of a radical young girl, a middle-aged homebody and a wise old sage lady in a fast-paced inter-mingling of time, space and identity. ART: Rembrandt – The Late Works | National Gallery | 15 Oct – 18 Jan 2015
The rather disastrous autumn years of Dutch artist Rembrandt's life are the focal point of this seasonal major show, which traces his increasingly radical and expressive style in an array of bold and self-examining paintings and prints, most emblematic of all his warts-and-all 'Self Portrait At The Age Of 63', which was finished in the final year of his life. COMEDY: Mostly Comedy w/ Phil Kay + Luke Benson + Lou Sanders | Leicester Square Theatre | 15 Oct
"Bright and sparky" two-man package Doggett & Ephgrave host an in-the-mainly-comic night of... well... 'Mostly Comedy' by "accommodating" master-narrator Phil Kay, Amused Moose Laughter Awards finalist 2014 Lou Sanders, and tall class clown Luke Benson. Details and tickets here.

Richard Brinsley Sheridan's witty five-act society play circa 1775 is updated under the guidance of Selina Cadell. Gemma Jones stars as the formidable and gaffe-prone Mrs Malaprop, and Nicholas Le Prevost is Sir Anthony Absolute, a rich aristocrat whose son/heir pretends to be poor in order to woo the sentimental Lydia Languish. ART/EXHIBITION: Anarchy And Beauty – William Morris And His Legacy | National Portrait Gallery | 16 Oct – 11 Jan 2015 (pictured)
Victorian artist, craftsman, writer and all-over visionary radical William Morris, him of printed floral wallpaper fame, is paid homage to in a spotlit showcase of his portraits, furniture, textiles, homeware and personal paraphernalia – many pieces of which are on display for the first time in all of time. Arranged alongside his work are bits n bobs by his contemporaries Dante Gabriel Rossetti and Edward Burne-Jones; plus a horde of books, jewellery, ceramics and clothing by Morris inspirees like Eric Gill, Terence Conran and Bernard Leach. COMEDY: Stuart Laws – When's This Gonna Stop | Hen & Chickens Theatre | 16 Oct
Oi, it's ya boy, the spontaneous and slightly unhinged Stuart Laws, who in his Edinburgh-Fringe-reprising solo show 'When's This Gonna Stop' will toy with topics like catchphrases, gibbons, Billy Joel, spiders and 'Donnie Darko'. Details and tickets here.

DANCE: Rocío Molina – Bosque Andora | Barbican | 16-18 Oct
Skirt-tossing first-lady-of-flamenco Rocío Molina choreographs and stars in this dance based around the 'animal' instinct for survival, as a cast of two male dancers and six musicians accompany Molina in a whirl of drama, sound looping and, of course, some moving; all with a crisp and distinctly non-'trad' aesthetic.
