TODAY IN LONDON astral jazzists Soweto Kinch, Matthew Herbert and Hugh Masekela, top comics Tim Key and Kevin Eldon, and a simulation of the world’s largest refugee camp feature in the following TW-recommended events…
COMEDY: Bush Hall Presents… Tim Key/Kevin Eldon/Aisling Bea/Andrew Maxwell, Bush Hall, 15 Nov
Bush Hall summons the ‘big four’ (okay, ‘a’ big four) of stand up – that’s weirdy beardy Tim Key, versatile telly star Kevin Eldon, Irish beauty Aisling Bea and Irish… man Andrew Maxwell – to big up its Friday night bill, which is headlined by a very special secret guest. Details and tickets here.
MUSIC: London Jazz Festival, various locations, 15-25 Nov (pictured)
Showcasing music’s smokiest, most sultry sub-palate in all its many colours, the 21st edition of London’s super-multi-national Jazz Festival ushers in (over the next ten days) the likes of Tuscan superstar Bobo Rondelli, rap saxophonist Soweto Kinch, electronic icon Matthew Herbert, South African maestro Hugh Masekela, master pianist Larry Willis, Grammy-nominated Caribbean cat Monty Alexander and Joni Mitchell-esque singer-guitarist Chloe Charles. Details and tickets here.
THEATRE: Seeking Sanctuary, The Vaults, 15-16 Nov
Part exhibition, part immersive theatre piece, this free entry experience reimagines the many trials of real-life immigrants and refugees, as ticket-holders are put through a simulation of border control and the various hardships involved in finding asylum. Conceived by the British Red Cross, the event even features a recreation of the world’s largest refugee camp, Dadaab. Details and links to register for free tickets here.
