TODAY IN LONDON comedy’s #1 weirdo Paul Foot, drag artistes Jonny Woo, Ma Butcher and John Sizzle, and a cinematic fright all feature in the following TW-recommended events…
CABARET: Gay Bingo 10th Anniversary, Hackney Empire, 25 Oct (pictured)
Drag royals Jonny Woo, Ma Butcher and John Sizzle bring their iconic Gay Bingo extravaganza – part interactive bingo game show, part cabaret, part lip-synch spectaular – to Hackney, calling all – whatever your gender or orientation – to join the party. Details and tickets here.
COMEDY: Paul Foot – Words, Bloomsbury Theatre, 25 Oct
Depending on whether tickets are still at ‘very limited availability’-level, or completely gone, you might or might not still have time to buy into mercurial Mr Popular Paul Foot‘s wack-a-day tirade on life, death and toast. Details and tickets here.
FILM: Halloween Season, Ritzy Cinema, 25 Oct – 16 Nov
Tying in, noose-like, with the BFI’s trip into all-things Gothic, Brixton’s Ritzy picture house sets its own creepy ferris wheel of film in motion with a series of super-scary screenings and special side-events. Turkish director Ferzan Ozpetek’s ‘A Magnifient Haunting’ is today’s fright night horror, whilst elsewhere in the season you will find: a restoration of Werner Herzog’s ‘Nosferatu The Vampyre’, Christopher Lee posing as the fang-tastic Count D in Hammer classic ‘Dracula’, an All Hallows’ showing of F W Murnau’s nightmarish ‘Nosferatu – A Symphony Of Horror’, and a kids film portion featuring CGI nasties ‘Frankenweenie’ and Disney’s ‘Hotel Transylvania’. Details and tickets here.
