By TW Editorial | Published on Saturday 2 November 2013
TODAY IN LONDON cool Nordic artistes The Raveonettes and Annie, YouTube wunderkind Bo Burnham and top comedians Richard Herring, Mae Martin and Brett Goldstein all feature in the following TW-recommended events…
COMEDY: Bo Burnham – What, Leicester Square Theatre, 8-18 Nov (pictured)
23 years young US wunderkind Bo Burnham won the Edinburgh Comedy Award Panel Prize back in 2010, and buckets of kudos more recently for ‘What’ – his quick-witted and clever dissection of comedy itself. Details and tickets here.
COMEDY: Popcorn Comedy Episode 3 – Dating, Hackey Picturehouse Attic, 8 Nov
For its ‘Dating’-themed third iteration, monthly night Popcorn makes a funny/filmic match made in heaven, pairing shorts by local creatives with comic intervals by Richard Herring, Brett Goldstein and Mae Martin. Details and tickets here.
FESTIVAL: Ja Ja Ja Festival, The Roundhouse, 8-9 Nov
The Raveonettes, Annie, LCMDF, Mew and Postiljonen, who, as fate has it, are all Scandinavian bands (and great Scandinavian bands at that), will play this mega-fest wing of ace Nordic night Ja Ja Ja. As well as all the ice-cool acts, the event will also feature daytime cinema curated by the Copenhagen International Documentary Film Festival, a label fair, and Scandi street eats. Details and tickets here.
