And the LDN-based events the ThisWeek team is tipping today are…
COMEDY: The 99 Club w/ Ross Noble + Hal Cruttenden + Stefano Paolini | Storm, Leicester Square | 18 Aug
Keeping it 100 at this evening’s 99 Club is headliner and king-of-the-surreal Ross Noble, who’ll lollygag alongside naughty-but-nice stand-up Hal Cruttenden and Radio 4 mainstay Stefano Paolini. Details and tickets here.
MUSIC/FILM: Kid Koala – Nufonia Must Fall | Roundhouse | 18 Aug
Scratch DJ Kid Koala, is joined by the Afiara String Quartet in playing his original score to this special show and screening inspired by his graphic novel ‘Nufonia Must Fall’. Its scenes, which follow a jobless robot and a lonely office girl’s improbable love story, are recreated in mini sets by a team of puppeteers, with the action cinematically lit, filmed, and shown on a big cinema screen. Details and tickets here.
THEATRE: Troilus And Cressida | Tristan Bates Theatre | 18 Aug – 6 Sep (pictured)
On show alongside ‘Coriolanus’ as part of Lazarus Theatre’s ‘Our World At War Season’, it’s this bold modernisation of Shakespeare’s lesser-famed (if no less great) him-and-her tragedy ‘Troilus And Cressida’, in which two young lovers are torn apart against a frantic tableau of jealous, big battles, and the odd skirmish. Details and tickets here.
