Dance & Physical Theatre ThisWeek In London
Three To See on 1 Jul: Still Ill, Unexpected Tales, Dancing City
By TW Editorial | Published on Friday 24 June 2016
And today’s ThisWeek-tipped, LDN-based events are…
Still Ill | New Diorama | 1 Jul (pictured)
‘Still Ill’ is part of New Diorama and A Younger Theatre’s Incoming Festival, which you may be very well aware of, not least because we’ve mentioned it on a number of recent occasions. This particular show is a bit of a sneak peek at a new play by one of my favourite theatre companies, Kandinsky, before it does a more extensive run in the autumn. Three actors explore conversion disorder, and the difficulties of diagnosing it, and I think that’s a great subject to take a look at. See this page here for all the details.
Unexpected Tales | Peacock Theatre | 1 Jul
The Jazz Dance Company present a high energy show combining musical theatre with jazz dance (quelle surprise) that explores fairy and folk tales, depicting the joyful and the ridiculous, as well as the dark and sinister elements of the world of Grimm. I think it sounds rather exciting. Info is here.
Dancing City | Canary Wharf | 1-2 Jul
And so to more dance, because we’re all about the dance here at TW towers today. This is like a mini-festival within the Greenwich and Docklands International Festival, it’s held outside at Canary Wharf, and it’s free, free, free. Lots of events over the course of Friday and Saturday, including a piece from the very excellent Candoco Dance Company, choreographed by Arlene Phillips, and a show of no-doubt thrilling aerial dance from Wired Aerial Theatre. Have a look at this link here for a full list of what’s on.
