And today’s ThisWeek-tipped, LDN-based events are…

Brixton City Festival | Brixton | 14-16 Sep
It’s the Brixton City Festival – “Where revolution meets popular entertainment. Radical and exciting voices, right up your street!” – and it’s not only exciting, it’s also all free, though there are some events you need to book a ticket for. There’s some really interesting looking stuff planned, and I don’t have time to talk about it all, so I’d recommend you head to this page here and take a look.

There are loads of shows on in London this month that have come fresh from a run at the Edinburgh Festival, and many have won much acclaim. This show certainly went down rather well with our own reviewer. “As I watched this fiendishly funny show I thought it might be one for aficionados of theatre – those who’d appreciate the Chekhov, Pinter and Mamet references, for example – but a quick glance behind me revealed that even the kids were rocking with laughter”, he wrote, and concluded: “Damien Warren-Smith’s performance skills are as impressive as they are varied. This is a show of clownish but clever comic chaos.” So you know, head this way.

Eris | The Bunker Theatre | 11-28 Sep
“Seán is feeling wronged because his boyfriend Tim has been excluded from a family wedding back home in Ireland. What does it matter that they’ve just broken up? The problem for his family is that Tim is femme, fabulous and worst of all, English. Spurred on by righteous anger, Seán is determined to do something about it. As Greek myths, hook-up apps, and the musical stylings of Sinéad O’Connor collide, Seán launches into his hunt for the most disruptive plus-one possible.” This sounds good, doesn’t it? All the info here.
