Festivals Theatre ThisWeek In London
Three To See on 17 Jun: Bottleneck , Victoria Melody – Hair Peace, InTransit Festival
By TW Editorial | Published on Friday 10 June 2016
And today’s ThisWeek-tipped, LDN-based events are…
Bottleneck | Old Red Lion | 14-25 June
This particular production of ‘Bottleneck’ had a run at Theatre N16 back in 2015, just after the venue’s move to Balham, and so you might already have come across it, but I reckon it’s definitely worth flagging up regardless of whether you have seen it or not, given that the play is a much-acclaimed and loved work from award winning multi-tasker Luke Barnes, and given that Theatre N16 are always churning out good stuff. Football and 80s coming of age, brilliantly done. See this page here for all the info.
Victoria Melody – Hair Peace | Battersea Arts Centre | 13-25 Jun
Argh, I nearly didn’t realise this was on, and therefore nearly missed telling you about it, which would have been very, very awful because Victoria Melody is very, very brilliant. You may have seen her in her rather well-received show ‘Major Tom’, which focused on beauty pageants, and was excellent. In ‘Hair Peace’, the subject matter (as you might expect) hair, wigs, and where hair extensions come from. Eccentric topic, possibly, but one which generates a comedic investigation into ethics and diverse cultures. Don’t miss it, go to the venue website forthwith for details.
InTransit Festival | various locations | 17-26 Jun
The InTransit Festival has been setting up in spaces and places all over Kensington and Chelsea every year for about a decade, so if you haven’t checked it out yet, then it’s about time you did. There’s all sorts of stuff going on – performance, exhibitions, installations – so check out the long list of events right about here, then make your decisions about what to take in. You won’t regret it…
